I think this actually quite a difficult task.
Depending what these mystery 'rides' are, you might need to take into
account that one could include or overlap another, even if the end
points are different.  You'd have to decide whether you want to treat
that as 'similar', or break the ride down into 'similar' sections and
not-similar sections.

leads to a means to find the nearest distance from a point to a
polyline.  A processing heavy method for your need would be to step
through the points in your line, checking each to see if it is very
close to the other.  How close is 'close enough' is up to you.
  If you do get a match throughout that way, you'd have to remember
that your target could be just a subset of the polyline you are
comparing it to, and re-run the process doing the comparison the other
way round.
  If you design your code so that it can abort the process at the
first mis-match, and assuming that most lines aren't actually expected
to match, it'll only have to do a lot of processing for near or
correct matches.
