I guess that the geocoding service is interpreting your requests as an
automated script. Google tend not to like that. An interval of a
minute shouldn't trigger the rate limit or the total-per-day limit.

Yes; and probably the regularity of the requests.

Assuming that you are complying with the terms and using the points on
a Google Map, you could try varying the interval -- but the average
interval over 24 hours should not be less than 36 seconds. No
guarantees though, and it's possible that such an attempt to
circumvent any detection mechanism may make things worse. Google do
not like automated scripts accessing their services. Try this at your
own risk.
