Bill Chadwick's demos at
http://www.bdcc.co.uk/Gmaps/BdccGmapBits.htm
includes a "graticule" which could be adapted.
Of course it depends which grid you refer to, but from
http://home.mira.net/~gnb/gps/mapping.html
it appears that GDA94 is more or less interchangeable with WGS84,
which is what Google Maps use, so you can probably use a simple lat/
long grid?
