Well, if you can get the layout sorted so that the map is visible, it would help! I have a fairly large screen and the map is squished at the bottom because the left side-bar is too wide for it. So there's no space on the right at all. And the left sidebar doesn't collapse like it seems it should. I'm still not sure what you're asking. If you're asking for a box shown *on the map* but which doesn't move, like a legend box, you could create that as a custom control. There's a control called "legend_control" on the map on the "Find us" tab on my ACNY maps, say http://www.acny.org.uk/4980. It should be possible to change its content dynamically, although changing its size would be difficult. If all you want is a box outside the map, just change its content with innerHTML.
