There's another equally important issue. You're using a database from
the Census which by definition isn't directly related to USPS Zip
Codes but a thing the Census calls "ZCTA" or Zip Code Tabulation Area.
Search Google for the differences between the two. For one, there are
a lot fewer ZCTA's than USPS Zip Codes and another, the last time
ZCTA's were updated was around 2003. You won't get similar results
from the data you have vs. data other web sites (like ours for
instance) use. Trust your coding (trust but verify!) and algorithms,
not the results others obtain.

Rossko brings up a very important point as well. How you define
"within radius" is going to get you vastly different results depending
on your implementation.
