It works for me in all the browsers I tested (FF, Chrome, IE6, Opera)
on Win XP.

It does look like it is being placed on top of the map scale, and I
wonder if that might be interfering.

Perhaps you could look at the css that is applied to it where it works
and compare it to that applied to it when it doesn't.
