Yes and no.

The geocoder is just that: you give it a postcode and it returns the
geographic coordinates. That's what it's designed to do, and generally
it does it quite well.

As a bonus, you do get some address information for those coordinates,
and this can include the county or Unitary Authority. That is,
Rochester is in Medway, not Kent; Brighton is not in East Sussex; and
London may give some odd results.

The best way is to try it and see what you get.
