Hi all, As Google Maps will be charging for usage after January 1st for usage above 25000 hits, i'm tyring to get a grasp what my usage is at the moment in preperation.
I run http://www.flighttracker.gleff.com which basically just plots aircraft locations every 10 seconds. The site loads V2 of the API and unless people interact with the map itself, or choose an aircraft to follow the majority of the time the map doesn't change. However the markers sitting on top of the map clear and replot every 10 seconds. If hypothetically I have 10 aircraft markers updated every 10 seconds, does that count as 10 hits every 10 seconds etc? Basically, what is a "hit" considered as when it comes to Google Maps? Also, is there any way of monitoring the usage? I only get around 100 visitors a day on the site, but because of the marker updates I'm guessing I'm going to be above the 25000 hits hence I'll probably need to bring the site down.
