Possible? Yes. Easy? No. There's no built-in way to do such a thing in the API, if that's what you're asking. The API does provide all the tools you'd need (I think), but you'd have to do quite a lot of work yourself to make it happen. And this *will* involve "learning a lot of the Google Maps API".
