Thanks everyone. Back to v3. Thinks look pretty good now, but the various gestures on the iPhone reportedly continue to yield erratic behavior (not owning an iPhone, I rely on friends' reports). I am now offering a re-center button in case people get lost. Looks aren't perfect, though. The annotation on the scale gets cut off at the top, but this isn't an iPhone issue; it happens in other browsers too.
