Subject: Need your help! -- Mobile Web Applications Candidate Rec
To: <[email protected]>

Hello Mobile Browsers people...

Today the w3c published as "Candidate Recommendation" the Mobile Web
Application Best Practices <http://www.w3.org/TR/mwabp/> document. This
document outlines (under the guise of best practices) the hacks required to
make mobile Web applications behave slightly more like real applications (
:) -- you know what I mean).

The exit criteria that will see this document become a full Recommendation
are that each BP should be implemented on at least two sites. To achieve
this, builders of mobile Web applications (um, that's you...) are invited to
submit an implementation report noting which BPs they have implemented in
their applications. NOTE: The nature of the document is such that no single
application is expected to have implemented *all* the best practices, just
the ones relevant... The hope however is that across a number of
applications all BPs will have been implemented at least twice (hence
demonstrating that they are genuine best practices and not just something we
made up).

I would be *extremely* grateful if you could fill in this form and submit it
for any application you have worked on / are familiar with... Even if you
don't tick many of the boxes it would still be very useful to get a feel for
our coverage. *Nb: Your applications are not being judged on the basis of
this, and it won't end up with you being asked to do more work... *This is
just to help us make the document better / more relevant before it becomes a
final Rec.

The form to fill-in and send is here:
http://www.w3.org/2010/01/mwabp-implementation-report-template, and also
linked from the document itself.

Naming the few specific applications that I know about / am familiar with to
get the ball rolling:

Adam: Mobile Web Talk (m.google.com/talk)
Marc: Mobile Web Maps
Zak: Mobile Picasa
Neil: Mobile OneGoogle
*...and hopefully a bunch more that I don't know about...*

Many many thanks, (a beer will be purchased for each submitted report, I'm
serious, hold me to it!)

Adam.
