Hi all, I've been using the strategy of obtaining directions object with the same origin and destination to obtain the location of the nearest road. This is demonstrated for V2 by Mike Williams: http://econym.org.uk/gmap/example_snap.htm.
My translation to V3 API was working until a couple of weeks ago, I don't know which release version exactly. See: http://eventengine-test.appspot.com/map_v3/1 Now in the results structure I find various latlngs but nothing which seems to locate the street. If I look, for example at results.trips[0].routes[0].end_geocode.geometry. location_type is ROOFTOP. The direction service seems to be essentially geocoding, returning the nearest street address and the location of the rooftop of the property. Is this a deliberate shift in behaviour of the directions service? If the origin and destination are sufficiently far apart then I do get waypoints which I can mark on the map. http://eventengine-test.appspot.com/map_v3/2 Has anyone else seen this behaviour or got any advice? I have the V2 equivalents at: http://eventengine-test.appspot.com/map_v2/1 http://eventengine-test.appspot.com/map_v2/2 PS, can you get the version number from the V3 API? Is there an equivalent of G_API_VERSION? Thanks, James -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps JavaScript API v3" group.
