I have seeen this behavior as well in latest firefox. I noticed that when i change zoom level using the controls (and not the mouse scroll wheel) then the marker does not disappear.
If i use the scroll wheel there there is a fat chance it gets disappeared. Does not happen always, but when it happens you cannot avoid it...
