You'll be happy to hear that, with the graduation of Maps API v3 from Google
Labs, we've added versioning:
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/basics.html#Versioning
At present versions 3.0 and 3.1 are available.  Please do report any issues
you encounter.
