In attempting to produce similar results to the old v2 api with regards to being able to add a StreetView overlay, I have added an ImageMapType to my map that displays the StreetViewOverlay.
I used an example found here: http://koti.mbnet.fi/ojalesa/v3/osm_dual.htm And was able to reproduce the StreetView overlay created in the Map on the left.
