In the documentation there is no setOptions() Method but there is one
that it works
myMap = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("mapDiv"),
myOptions);
directionsDisplay.setMap(myMap);
var directionRendererOptions ={
suppressMarkers: true,
preserveViewport: true,
polylineOptions:{
strokeColor: "#FF0000",
strokeOpacity: 0.5,
strokeWeight: 3
}
};
directionsDisplay.setOptions(directionRendererOptions);
And it changes the polyline !
