Now I see the problem - this actually used to work but doesn't
anymore. When you switch your user agent to the iPhone, the map quits
responding to mouse drag events and is looking for touch events. On
those examples, the full map loaded just fine (including all of the
tiles - it wasn't a static map), but you just can't interact with it.

If you try them on an actual iphone, they work great.
