LOL those are all the wrong colors - no hue values at all for most of
them (the 0x broke 'em) so all that remained were the saturation,
lightness and gamma options (all set to low, explaining the map's
'browniness').

I finally solved the problem. '0x' broke all hexadecimal values (in a
way I still cannot determine), but it works with HSL values (namely
the 'degree' of the 'pure' Hue color (format: 0x000360 for 360º) - in
fact, I think 0x is reserved for them. I'll implement it through all
my styles tomorrow and see if my tile loads still break through my
iPhone/carriers.
