So I've been working on porting a project from GMaps v2 to GMaps v3
for several months (it's a big project). One of the hurdles that I've
had to jump to make this possible is the fact that GMaps v3 does not
have any equivalent to the GOverviewMapControl from v2. Now, I noticed
the suggestion in the issue tracker a couple months ago and made sure
to star it, but as my project is now very near completion, I decided
that I would wait no more for the dev team (or someone else) to do the
port. So I built something similar for myself. Of course, there had to
be a few compromises (e.g., it can't be in the extreme lower-left
corner because of the Terms of Use link down there), but I think it's
a reasonable start at the very least. If you're interested in using
the control (or helping me develop it), I have placed it on Google
Code under an Apache 2.0 license. Feel free to use it in your
applications. Here's the link to the project:

As always, contributions and/or feedback are most welcome. Thanks!
