My client needed an office locator for his clients. After scouring the internet without luck for a solution, I wrote my own.
Functions: - Continuously sizes the company icons on the map according to the zoom level - icons always 'look right' - Hides icons that overlap - reduces crowding at low zoom values - Search by address, with disambiguation, or click on map to submit query - Results are 5 lines to the offices closest to the query. The lines' thicknesses show increasing proximity The sample has fictitious offices in the 240 capitals of the world. You can see the icons appearing as you zoom in to the Caribbean, and you'll have to zoom in a *lot* on Rome before the Vatican appears. http://www.calvert.ch/geodesix/offices.htm I hope you'll find this useful, feel free to copy.
