I'm not sure I'm looking at the same thing as you.  It's a limitation
of the display that markers can only appear to move in whole pixel
increments ; a given pixel represents a whol range of lat/longs ,
obviously a bigger range at lower zooms.  Any practical movement is
almost certain to appear like a "staircase"

The script errors out fairly quickly in IE6 and FF2 so maybe I don't
see enough.
