Unfortunately, it does not help.  A new version is there at
http://jeff-h.com/test/title.html that tries setting it in both places
if needed.

And, yes, your technique works nicely with markers, but not for
polylines or polygons.  You use the marker's this.getPosition(), but
polylines do not have this property/method.  It is in trying to get
the mouse click LatLng position that OverlayView.getProjection() is
needed.

I'm going to report the Projection "bug" and ask for an enhancement of
"title" for polylines and polygons.
