How do I link directly to a KML feature in Google Maps?

I created this example with three <Placemark/>s, each with an @id,
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http:%2F%2Fnottheoilrig.com%2Fgoogle%2F201011040%2Findex.kml%23beach

I tried adding a fragment to the link, e.g. ".../index.kml#beach",
hoping that when I followed the link, Google Maps would center on the
<Placemark/> with @id "beach", but it didn't : (

Clicking one of the three links Google Maps displays to the left of
the map does move the map to focus on that feature - but I can't
figure out how to link directly to this state
