Larry, I think he means he has KML in a string.

Martin, if this is indeed the case, you're out of luck with the v3 KmlLayer.

KmlLayer is rendered on Google servers, and as such, the kml file must
be accessible by our servers. That is, hosted somewhere on the web
(not inside your users' browsers)
