Sorry about the double post. Anyway, just to say that Freestanding Image Icons do work fine in Google Earth too and are easy to implement (even for me).
Their significance (for me) are that you can display icons with different shape, color, text and starrred/with slanting tail, according to different characteristics of the place. The choice of icons isn't great (even when using the free ones from glyphish).
