No. I had to load that page, click on the "English" in the top right corner to view a list of languages, click on "English" again and read the English translation of the page. It's got different contents, including the chapter you were referring to from the beginning. Seems the German translation which I'm automatically being redirected to doesn't want me to know that.
Anyway, I found it out now and have successfully applied that method. Now everything works fine with XHTML. I have however modified the method so that the Maps API is loaded on the DOMContentLoaded event, not the page load event, which is a bit earlier. And it can load in parallel with images and such. I can't notice a delay compared to the "synchronous" loading of the Maps API.
