In an article about how to render many markers ( http://code.google.com/apis/maps/articles/toomanymarkers.html ) , it's said that "if you'd prefer to perform computations on your own server, this can be accomplished by creating a custom overlay from imagery that is pre-rendered, or rendered on the fly." I'd like to check if any one can help to explain how to create a custom overlay from imagery.
