Hello guys, Thanks for your assistance so far. I tried Andrew's suggestion and i found that he was indeed right. When i specified the height of the div in the style sheet in pixels, it showed up just fine. however all attempts to use the approach in the tutorial suggested by Andrew i.e. specifying the height of the div in percentages while specfying the height of the html and body elements did not appear to work. The only tangible difference i could see from my page and the one in the tutorial was the DocType tag:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http:// www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> which was none existent on my page. When i added this tag, the map vanished on my mozilla and firefox browsers and also vanished on my IE browser. The curious thing was that the IE browser gave a funny Javascript error which i believe is coming from the google maps javascript file : line 20 char 207 Invalid argument unfortunately i cannot make these changes to the hosted url for you to view as it is currently live. So i ask, is there a relationship between the DocType and setting the size of the body and html tags? Whats with this javascript error? Either ways thanks a lot for your help so far (worst case i could go the messy route of detecting IE browsers and hardcoding the height of the div though i hope not!) Any help would be appreciated On Mar 15, 10:56 pm, "[email protected]" <[email protected]> wrote: > On Mar 15, 2:15 pm, blonker <[email protected]> wrote: > > > map div is getting its size from the style sheet > > I think not.
