I had a similar problem and solved it by: 1. Searching for markers that are in the same location (looping through an array, comparing Lat/Lng within a very small threshold since one marker may have more decimals than another that is effectively in the same spot). 2. When finding a match, and were at a close zoom level, I moved the marker a very-small pre-determined amount to the N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, or NW. 3. I then drew a red poly line from the marker's new feaux location to it's real location, effectively displaying a cluster of markers centered around a common point.
