Right now, there are a couple of options I am aware of:

  - roll your own.  Not as hard as you think if you have just a minor
use of maps.

  - use //third-party/java/gwt-google-mapsv3

  - use someone else's implementation, like the travel team's in
       google3/java/com/google/travel/base/client/mapbinding/
    or the carpool teams in:
       java/com/google/maps/mapplets/carpool/client/maps/v3
