Hi all, I am trying to implement a store locator using the GM JS API but I am not sure if this is the correct tool for what I want to do.
I manage a set of distributed mobile nodes (Android smartphones for now) for which I want to send information for a centralized location (ex. a laptop). the laptop queries the location of the nodes at any given time and it then needs to query a store locator service to find out which store (may be by name - ex. Shaws) is closest to one of the nodes. Once that store is identified it sends the notification (the marker on a map of where the store is in relation to their current location) to that node. I think it should be possible to build this using this API but I am not sure if such store locator services exist online at this pt. Anyone has attempted to do something like this that can give me some hints to move forward? Or any examples? I will certainly appreciate it.
