We require an expert in Google Maps V3 to assist our existing website developer in the completion of course creation, storage, editing, searching, etc. Experience with Garmin Communicator API is desirable but not essential. The site being developed is a cycling site where users can create routes/courses (either manually or by converting a past ride’s path), and record/edit/download past rides (including the path, duration, distance, elevation, etc. and some ride related data such as heart rate). In addition, group rides can be scheduled as an event with an associated route. The bulk of the site is being developed in Joomla, so obviously the Google Map related work needs to integrate with that, but the existing developer should have that in hand. Users will be able to upload and download files in .GPX, .KML and .TCX file formats. One aspect of the consultancy will be to advise on storing information (in one or any file format, or a combination of file format and other data fields).
We will pay a lump sum success fee to the consultant, contingent on the successful completion of the site’s mapping related pages and functionality. We do not mind if you review the developer’s work and advise them on how to fix the problems that exist, or may be encountered along the way, or you can take their code and rewrite it so that it works (whichever is easier for you). Essentially you will stand in as our expert in the site’s development, ensuring the completion of the mapping related functions. Available to interested applicants are several files, including “Google Maps Scope to Advise on” (the main Google Map related scope extracted from our developer’s scope), “Full original specification for reference” (Our developer’s full scope, you may be able to see more context in this document), and “Ride Pages Screenshots” (some updated information/comments provided to the developer recently). We have some ideas of how we’d like the functions to work. For example, this (* http://gmaps-samples-v3.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/draggable-directions/draggable-directions.html *<http://gmaps-samples-v3.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/draggable-directions/draggable-directions.html>) example would work well as a base for editing our routes (although I can't get it to work in IE9) as it effectively allows new waypoints to be inserted easily and the undo is vital. In our case several waypoints will already exist along the route. Marker clustering should be included (on search/browsing results). We are happy to answer any questions, and can point you to examples of similar sites (e.g. connect.garmin.com) to help you see what we want achieved. Please contact me at mhta01-cmc at yahoo.com.au if you are interested and can demonstrate your knowledge/expertise. We hope to appoint someone in about a week. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps JavaScript API v3" group.
