the invalid XHTML is the use of the ampersand & when building URL's
if you use & in java script, it makes valid XTML but breaks the
java script

There are a lot of comments on the web suggesting that Google Maps are
not compatible with XHTML because they make use of "document.write"
which is said to not be incorporated into the XHTML5 DOM standard. I
don't know if this is true, but I do know that I can't get Google Maps
to function in an XHTML5 environment and there is a prominent
manufacturer who demands such compliance.
