You are right Andrew, is not "required", but I just released a Map in one of my sites, And I couldn't watch it, because my map wasn't registered in my Google account. So, I can say KEY REQUIRED for production environment.
Tienes razon Andrew, no es "requerido", pero acabo de liberar un Mapa en uno de mis sitos, y no pude visualizar el mapa, segun Google era porque no lo tenia registrado a traves de my cuenta de Google. Entonces, yo les puedo decir que SI ES REQUERIDA LA LLAVE para ambiente productivos. Eu acho que você tem certeça, no é "requerida" una chave, mais Eu acabo de liberar um Mapa em uno de meus sites, e eu não pode visualizar meu mapa, porque Google me pide registralo com minha cuenta do Google.
