I, too, am frustrated by the decision to depreciate dynamic icons and chart
images. The dynamic icons feature was my reason for selecting Google Maps
over other options. I utilize image pie charts in my marker clusters ( I
need to indicate attribute information of the markers being clustered).
Will an improved alternative be offered (as with the GeoChart replacing the
GeoMap) or are we just losing functionality? I hardly think hosting my own
marker images is an improvement over dynamically generated icons available
in variety of colors. Maybe it is cheaper for Google. I wish Google would
give us a little more information so folks currently using the depreciated
APIs could plan accordingly. Thanks.
