A month later, there is no reply by Google. One good point is that some outstanding bugs have been fixed recently, e.g photos search / json output, which had been broken for a year.
But overall, I recommend our users use Yahoo's Flickr nowadays. It, and its API, both seem under active support. A real shame as the free Picasa PC product is so good.
