No worries - apologies for not being more clear in my original post. In my local copy they are organized into a tree by date, but I used the Google Photos desktop uploader tool and it just puts them all into a single album.
I looked at your code and it appears that we're doing the same thing to attempt to get all the files, so that's good (or too bad for me, hehe) - but thanks nonetheless, I appreciate the response in any case. I'm noodling on your other idea* of moving files between albums - maybe I can fit that to my overall goal.
