I have been getting 404 errors as well using the Spreadsheet API for Python (gdata-python-client 2.0.18).
Like you, my errors started yesterday with no code changes. Interestingly, my code still works on "old" spreadsheets, but produces 404 errors on "new" spreadsheets.
