Maybe you're better off sending an email directly to Google, or in the
Google Talk Help Discuss group at <http://groups.google.com/group/
Google-Talk-Help-Discuss>. As far as I know, google-talk-open isn't
monitored by Googlers.

According to <http://www.google.com/support/talk/bin/answer.py?
answer=53765>, you might be able to use your Google Talk username for
Gmail by signing in at <https://www.google.com/accounts> before trying
to create your Gmail account. If you want to try it using a Gmail
invitation, as mentioned on that page, I can send you one.

Good luck! It seems the Google Account system keeps causing
confusion...
