Thanks Scott for the reply and the tip about Ignite Openfire. I am looking at different solutions for my company to replace a custom built IM component that's really hurting the performance of our web site. This custom built IM component uses JavaScript and polls our database every 5 seconds to check for new IM's. In addition to chatting, we use this component for other notification tasks.
My task is to look at different solutions and find the best one that will meet our needs. These needs include but are not limited to using our current usernames to populate the new IM database, bandwidth monitoring for users and stores, giving us the ability to create the contact groups for our users, access for external applications to send IM notification to users, ability to send broadcast IM's to all users or certain stores and disabling user’s ability to add/block contacts. Besides GTalk, Window's Live Messenger and Yahoo, I'm also looking at Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 (which might be similar to Ignite Openfire, we'll see). I'll spend some time checking out Ignite Openfire to see if it would better meet our needs. Thanks again and let me know if you have any suggestions, Chad On May 15, 3:17 am, Scott Markwell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I am not a Google employee. > > You may wish to look into Google's enterprise > solutionshttp://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/admins/editions.html > > I use 3rd party XMPP applications to login to my account, and I also > run a 3rd party XMPP server that I can communicate to people on GTalk > through.
