On the ones I'm working with, if you set a color for the unvisited link, that color is used for the link all the time. If you don't supply one, then the browsers default link color handling takes over. One thing that seems to be missing from the sandbox format though is that if someone puts a link in their IM comment, we don't yet have a way to control that color. It would be fine with me if it just took the same color as the text for that, but right now it's always the default.
