Hey Tamara i may have a fix 4 u. if you restore your igoogle page from a backup it might turn back to the old one. you used to be able to turn it off wit some JavaScript but that doesn't seem to work any more. if you need i can give you a backup of mine that should work. it may also help to change your language to English (UK)
oh and did u notice u cant minimize gadgets without going into a drop down menu.
