Has Google considered adding a plain-language translator? I mean, adding to its translation service the option of keeping the same language, but adjusting for literacy level? For example, entering text, then selecting "Literacy Level 2" or "Grade 10"? Governments all over are gearing up to put out most documents in plainer language. Canada's federal government is a good example. They have papers elaborating their principles and the target levels, with examples, and are already generating materials that provide before/ after texts. If Google were to find a way to tap into this, they could offer a service that can only grow, especially if governments start to require the use plain language in other sectors (legal agreements, etc).
