Hi Victoria,
It sounds like maybe slideshare didn't allow Google to fetch the PDF,
or maybe it redirected to the file.
Have you tried the "upload a file" feature on Google Translate
itself? That may work better for you.
If that doesn't work, and you can point me at the PDF, I may be able
to help further.
