Here I was planning to submit some interesting mnemonics to Google translate (although as I say to Seán, I don't think it uses submitted translations much, at least not when they are very non-literal) but what do I find? Norwegian ROGGBIF is already correctly translated to Roy B. Giv ! Most other mnemonics it hasn't picked up, though. I suppose it could have to do with common variations. For instance, in the musical mnemonic "Every good boy deserves fudge", fudge is often replaced with favor, favour, "does fine" etc. The corresponding Norwegian phrase is also not very standardized. But I have never heard different mnemonics for the colors of the rainbow, in either language, so it makes sense that it should do better on that.
