Interesting question, if I understand you right!
Which language pairs does Google Translate work reasonably well for,
in our experiences?
What kinds of texts, too, maybe - scientific, everyday chit-chat,
newspapers ...?

We are properly grateful for this free of charge tool of course, etc.,
etc..But having said that, what about the quality? Translates 55%
well? What a dream!
For me:
pairs of Estonian to/from English, German, French, Swedish - never
better than 20-30%; much totally wrong sense or ununderstandable;
basically unusable at the moment as translation
Swedish / English, German, French - possibly 30-50 %, still much
completely haywire;
English, German, French, any pairs, - up to 50-60 %; would still never
let a translation loose without knowing both languages & correcting
(and I don't mean minor grammar things, I mean the sense; plus badly
embarrassing mistakes)
