As it so happens, I'm a computer programmer - currently studying an
honours degree in multimedia application development. My final year
project is an Irish language learning tool, with which I have made use
of Google's Translate API, and have had to write up a number of regex
functions to correct important mistranslations.
If google does not accept valid contributions - then why is the option
there in the first place? This mistranslation is still not corrected,
and many people have already corrected it.
I'd appreciate it if you didn't make assumptions about people you have
never met. I'm not on the paranoid side - I'm asking a genuine
question as to how such a translation could ever occur, when none of
the words when translated individually translate to Save the Queen,
and where no anthem is actually entitled "Save the Queen", but rather
"God Save the Queen".
The translation is offensive. My original point still stands, and if
google wants their translation service to be accurate, then they
should accept valid translations from fluent speakers.
