GT is supposed to do this according to context. This is what Statistical Translation is all about. There is further disambiuation of the word "star". It can either be étoile or vedette depending on whether it is a star like the Sun, or a star performer. GT is in general reasonable on disambiguation where there are 2 genuine possibilities. GT also puts absurdities in sometimes, particularly names of countries.
