Hello,
I work with refugees from East African countries like Somalia, Kenya,
Ethiopia and
Sudan. Lots of these folks speak Arabic, but MOST of them speak
Somali. My organization, East Africa Community of Colorado, Inc.
works directly with parents of elementary, middle/high school
students. A majority of the East African residents do not
speak English or Arabic - only Somali. Our school district website
uses Google Translate on their site and I'd like to use it on our site
as well, but Somali is not one of the choices available to choose
from.

I am asking if you could please add Somalia to your list of
languages? The number of Somali's coming to America is vast and
growing day by day. Lots are in Minnesota, Arizona, Nebraska,
Washington, Georgia, and Colorado. All of us could benefit from
translating into Somali. The communication gap is very hard to deal
with especially in a school environment where teachers interact with
parents on a day to day basis. It would help tremendously to provide
a service in Somali so that they can read and understand what is going
on. Not only will this translation help in a school environment, but
also in everyday life. I do not speak Somali, so it would help me if
I could use Google Translate in my day to day interactions with the
Somali Community I am helping.

Thank you for taking time to process this request. I understand that
it can pose a challenge to you. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
Colette
