I would like to bring your attention to the fact that some language
names in Korean used by Google Translate are not the ones recognized
as standard. Korean orthography is governed by the National Institute
of the Korean Language, and all but a few of the language names
currently used adhere to this standard, so I can only assume that
these are mistakes.

You can consult the standard recognized names for the languages in the
표준국어대사전(Pyojun Gugeo Daesajeon), the online dictionary offered on the
website of the National Institute of the Korean Language (http://
stdweb2.korean.go.kr/search/List_dic.jsp).

'Welsh' is properly 웨일스어, not 웨일즈어. The forms 웨일즈/웨일즈어, though
frequently encountered, are not even recognized in the dictionary.
Since Wales is not a sovereign country and does not appear in
textbooks (the way most Koreans become familiarized with the standard
names for countries), the standard Korean name for Wales is not as
well known as others.

카탈로니아어 does appear in the dictionary, but only as a variant form of 카탈루
냐어 for 'Catalan'. 카탈루냐, based on the Catalan and Spanish
pronunciations, is by far the more common name used for 'Catalonia'
ahead of 카탈로니아, based on the Latin pronunciation. 카탈루냐어 would be
preferable.

벨라루스어 is the new standard name for 'Belarusian', after the country
name was changed from 벨로루시 to 벨라루스 due to the request of the
Belarusian government. The dictionary currently does not even list the
old name 벨로루시어. Interestingly, something similar has recently happened
with Georgia, the standard name apparently changing from 그루지야 to 조지아,
but this is not yet reflected in the official dictionary and it would
be best to wait to make sure.

아이티 프랑스 말, literally 'French language in Haiti', is a problematic and
inaccurate name for Haitian Creole. As far as I know, there is no
official name in Korean for the language. Korean Wikipedia simply uses
아이티어, 'Haitian language'. I think this would be preferable.

I hope this is the right place for this comment. If not, I would
appreciate being pointed to where I should post this.
